Making Our Way

We’re still home for the most part. We’ve ventured out a bit here and there, but for the most part we are homebound. Libbie and I enjoy Zooming with her girlfriends and their mammas! We made homemade soft pretzels and a strawberry cobbler so far. This week she will be doing a book read along, a yoga class and a cookie decorating class. They are reading The Hiding Place, by Corrie Ten Boom. I’m going to read along with her. I’ve been painting in the studio, but nothing I feel confident enough to share. Learning to paint is definitely a process. I’m working on a series of Kids Art Workshops for the summer and I have a mini pop up Plenair popup workshop this Friday. We’re going to study Claude Monet’s water lilies. I can’t wait to see what the kids create. The weather has been so nice, we’ve eaten most meals outdoors. The flowers are blooming and my raised beds are coming along. I know I need to enjoy it now. The hot Houston summer is on its way. I’ve perfected our summer signature cocktail thanks to a wonderful neighbor! It’s a great spin on Chic-fil-a’s yummy lemonade. Recipe: 1 shot fresh lemon juice, 1 shot vodka, 1 shot cointreau, and a splash of sparkling lemon water OR in my case, french lemonade. I buy a lot of it at World Market. That and my favorite boxed water. I’m thankful I was stocked up before the shelter in place took effect. Who else finds themselves making snacks from their childhood??? I made jars of dill oyster crackers for my neighbors who checked in on us after the crazy storm blew through. I’m looking forward to the last super moon of the year. The “Flower Moon” will rise this week. I hope to capture it from our back yard. Mother’s Day is this weekend along with my birthday. I’ve asked for a fancy sewing machine. I’ve been researching machines for a while now and I found one made in Indiana that is suitable for upholstery projects and lighter tasks. We will see…
