Early early this morning we were awakened to a huge crash and shattering glass. It sounded like a bomb hit our house. Lambert and I jumped out of bed and ran to get our kids into our safe place (a/k/a the hallway with no windows). A crazy windy storm was happening and we have huge trees surrounding our home. When it was safe to investigate we discovered a large tree branch had fallen on our roof and cracked our bedroom window. We have two large exposed beams that span our bedroom and the one directly above my head is almost severed into two pieces. I can’t imagine that thing falling on me! The storm passed quickly and we all went back to sleep (we slept on the sofas). I’ll share photos later, but the short of it is this… we’re all safe and sound, so today I bake… Oliver over at Shorewood Bakery inspired me to try my hand at scones (not like we need more than the half dozen we still have in the freezer). I haven’t tasted yet but the house smells wonderful! I’m going to package up a few and share them with my neighbors. Libbie and I are hosting a Zoom Bake workshop tonight with a few of her classmates. She is totally my technical support department. I had no idea how to set up Zoom and she just stepped in and handled it all. We’re baking Southern Living Magazine’s Cakey Strawberry cobbler. In other news, I’ve been working on my garden. As quickly as I got everything planted in the dirt… here come my little squirrel friends… the last time I planted tomatoes, they ate them off the vine before ripe enough to pick. I’m not sure how to keep them out of my beds!
