Taking Care

I have the most thoughtful friends. I wish I were a more thoughtful, intentional person. I get so wrapped up in my world, I often forget to look after those I do care about and love. Time just gets away from me. A good friend in my small group at church put together a car parade for one of our nurse friends. We all made signs, brought dinner and slowly drove by her home, honking our horns and probably alarming the neighbors, while she greeted us curb side. It was so much fun, I even teared up a little. My friend is on the front line daily taking care of her patients. I don’t know what her world looks like, but I know she is essential and then comes home and cares for her family. Thankfully her husband is able to work remotely and help on the home front. I am so blessed to be home each day. I am wiped out at the end of each day so I can only imagine how it must feel to put in a stressful day at work and then drive home and be present for her family… Libbie and I made a lemon bundt cake for our friend. It was a near disaster. I turned the oven on but when I set the timer, I accidentally turned the oven off! The cake sat in a pre-heated oven for an hour and 10 mins… I reset the oven and the timer, but I wasn’t sure it could be salvaged. Baking is kinda scientific. So I did what any good baker friend would do… I cut into and sampled it before putting it into to-go containers for my friend. Thankfully, it was a success and my family had dessert too! My game is improving thanks to Hoot. I’m impatiently waiting on my art supplies from Blick to arrive. I have several still lifes I’m wanting to paint. i’m taking Porch Project photos for my neighbors. I have the very best neighbors. We’re praying for our friends, our nations leaders and all those affected by this pandemic. We’re staying positive and loving each other well, except when we want to kill each other!! Take care friends!
