I’m warning you… there’s a lot of sunflower photos here… I enjoy mindlessly scrolling through beautiful flowers. I find beauty in every fold, and bend. I think the buds that are just about to bloom as well as the flowers that are at the end of their glory are each splendid in their own way. Libbie spent the night with a friend last night, so after church this morning just the three of us visited our local farm to clip our own sunflowers. Hoot and I picked the biggest and best flowers, while Lambert checked out the bakery and smokehouse. It felt good to get out of the house and get our hands a little dirty in the garden. I’m amazed at how big these sunflowers are. Out of the rows of sunflower seeds I planted in our raised beds, only one lone stalk is growing. I think the seeds that weren’t dug up and devoured by the squirrels, were scorched by the 100 + degree weather we’ve had recently. I’m anxious to see if my lone survivor actually blooms. My tomatoes were a sad bust and I’ve yet to see a bloom on my dahlias. I’m still hopeful and baby them every day. I’m cleaning out the raised beds to make ready for the fall planting. Hopefully with the cooler weather, I’ll be a more successful gardner! I’m super ready for our first cold front this week! I love pulling out the fall decorations but it just doesn’t feel right when it’s so dang hot outside. I’m so thankful Lambert snagged the camera and captured a few photos of me and Owen together. He is such a good sport and didn’t complain too much about helping me pick the very best flowers. We’re headed home and I hope to catch a power nap on the couch before we pick up the Doll and head to Nana’s for dinner.
