This afternoon I captured a couple high school seniors with their families as part of the porch series. It was a beautiful day and I met two beautiful families. On the second shoot the mom asked me if I would like to take a look at their back “porch”. Little did I know she was taking me into the secret garden! From the curb, one would never know what lied behind the two story brick facade. It was a wonderland. I was there to document her son’s accomplishment, but I have to admit, the ADHD kicked in and I went into full on spaz mode. Plants I had never seen were everywhere, bulbs had been pulled to transplant to other parts of the garden. The smell was intoxicating and the colors were just beautiful. For a moment I forgot I was there to actually serve this sweet family. I temporarily pulled it together and got the photos I needed of the family and then went right back to stalking every inch of their backyard. People were talking, but I couldn’t hear any of it. I just had to keep clicking, knowing at any moment they were going to ask me to please leave. They were so gracious and actually let me stay a bit to take it all in. Mom brought out a ziplock and began to fill it with beautiful tomatoes. I came home straight away and ate every last one. Hoot cooked steaks, and we finished dinner just in time for me to teach a Zoom water color class for Libbie’s tribe. The girls painted simple flowers and a cute pineapple. I uploaded the garden pics the second the paint was dry. I couldn’t wait to share some of the images I captured with you. Happy Wednesday,
Hugs, Shirley
